EUS and ERCP should not be priced as the same procedure
EUS may be used for detailed imaging and tissue sampling, while ERCP is commonly used when an intervention in the bile or pancreatic ducts may be required. The quotation should identify the planned procedure and clinical goal.
What can change the estimate
Advanced endoscopy can expand during the same episode when findings require intervention.
- Diagnostic EUS versus EUS-guided tissue sampling
- ERCP with stone extraction, dilation or stent placement
- Anesthesia or sedation
- Pathology or cytology
- Inpatient observation or treatment of complications
- Additional imaging or laboratory tests
Send records before requesting a quotation
CT, MRI/MRCP, previous endoscopy reports and the current clinical question help the department define the procedure before the international office calculates an estimate.
Compare scope rather than a headline price
Ask whether physician fees, anesthesia, disposable devices, pathology, inpatient care and follow-up are included. The final invoice can differ from the advance estimate if the actual care changes.
