PSMA-targeted radioligand therapy delivers a radioactive therapeutic molecule to prostate-cancer cells that express sufficient PSMA. Heidelberg has long-standing experience with PSMA imaging and radioligand therapy. The treatment is not appropriate for every prostate-cancer patient: suitability depends on the exact disease state, previous treatment, PSMA expression, organ function and the current approved or specialist treatment pathway.
PSMA imaging is central to treatment selection
Heidelberg describes PSMA PET/CT and related imaging as a way to show whether tumor deposits express the target strongly enough for PSMA-directed treatment. A treatment request should therefore include recent molecular imaging when available and should not assume that a rising PSA alone establishes suitability.
Eligibility requires the whole prostate-cancer history
A German nuclear-medicine or uro-oncology team needs to understand prior systemic therapy, response, progression and current disease burden before deciding whether radioligand therapy belongs in the sequence.

Heidelberg describes repeated treatment cycles with interval laboratory monitoring. The number of cycles and whether treatment continues depend on response, tolerance and the specialist plan.
Coordinate nuclear medicine with uro-oncology
If the right point in the treatment sequence is unclear, Heidelberg advises multidisciplinary evaluation rather than treating nuclear medicine as a substitute for broader prostate-cancer management.
International travel planning
Ask how long each treatment visit requires, what radiation-safety instructions apply after discharge, which blood tests are needed between cycles and whether imaging or oncology follow-up can be performed in the home country.
