Freiburg and Düsseldorf describe treatment according to tumor type and stage rather than one standard package. A quotation prepared before the center knows whether the tumor is seminoma or non-seminoma, the post-orchiectomy marker trend and the extent of disease may not reflect the eventual treatment plan.
The initial diagnostic and surgical episode can include more than orchiectomy
The first hospital episode may include specialist assessment, ultrasound, tumor markers, anesthesia, inguinal orchiectomy, pathology and staging imaging. If fertility preservation is needed before additional treatment, sperm cryopreservation can be a separate service and should be clarified before therapy starts.

Ask how fertility-preservation costs are handled
Freiburg states that sperm can be cryopreserved before treatment when future fertility is important, and Düsseldorf publishes fertility-preservation services for people facing gonadotoxic cancer treatment. Ask whether consultation, sperm collection, cryopreservation and storage are billed by the treating hospital, a reproductive-medicine unit or another provider.
International self-pay estimates are preliminary
University Medical Center Freiburg states that its International Medical Services prepares a preliminary treatment plan and cost estimate from the submitted records, requires the relevant deposit before treatment and issues a final invoice after the actual care delivered. Budgeting should therefore allow for the plan to change if pathology, marker dynamics, complications or response alter the treatment sequence.
Compare the same clinical scope, not just the total number
When comparing German quotations, check whether both assume the same stage, chemotherapy protocol or surveillance plan and whether pathology review, imaging, physician fees, hospital stay, fertility preservation and follow-up are included. A lower estimate may simply cover fewer stages of care.
