For international self-pay patients, major German university hospitals describe a case-specific process: the clinical team reviews the medical records, defines the expected treatment, and only then can the international office prepare a preliminary estimate. The final invoice can differ if the actual diagnostics, procedure, hospital stay or complications differ from the original plan.

What to clarify in a HoLEP quotation
Ask the hospital to define the expected scope rather than comparing only the headline amount.
- Pre-operative urine and blood tests
- Ultrasound or flow/residual-urine assessment
- Laser procedure and anesthesia
- Expected catheter and hospital time
- Pathology of removed tissue
- Medication changes and follow-up
- Additional care if bleeding or urinary retention occurs
Confirm that the treatment is for benign obstruction
BPH, prostate cancer and other causes of urinary symptoms are different pathways. If cancer evaluation is still unresolved, the diagnostic plan should be clarified before booking a BPH procedure.
